Ayodhya Fair
There are mainly four fairs in Ayodhya, Chaitra Ramnavami fair, Sawan fair, Kartik fair, Ramayana fair. Although there are many fairs in Ayodhya, but these four fairs have special significance, which are described below.
Chaitra Ramnavami
The fair of Chaitra Ramnavami is celebrated because on this day the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu, Shri Ramchandra ji was born. Shri Ramchandra ji has special importance in the tradition of Hindu religion. This festival is a part of Basant Navratri and falls on the ninth day of the Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month and is also the first month of the Hindu calendar and this fair falls every year in the month of March-April. Lakhs of crores of devotees from all over the country and abroad come to Ayodhya to see this fair. It is believed that by taking a bath in the Sarayu river and having darshan of Shri Ram's birthplace, all the sufferings of the people are removed.
Shravan Mela (Sawan Mela)
The Sawan Jhula fair held in Ayodhya has more importance among the fairs held in India. This fair starts from the third day of Shukla Paksha of Shravan month according to Hindu calendar. On this day the idols of God from all the temples of Ayodhya come out in the form of procession and reach Maniparvat where visitors from all corners of the country and abroad participate in Jhulanotsav. After returning from there, Jhulanotsav is celebrated in all the temples till the last date of Shravan month. On the last date of the month of Shravan i.e. Shravani Purnima which is also celebrated as Rakshabandhan, after taking a bath in the holy water of Saryu, the visitors go back to their homes.
Kartik Mela
In the month of Kartik, people from Country and Abroad come to Ayodhya for Kalpavas. Kartik month fair of Ayodhya is gets started from the day of Sharad Purnima people start coming to Ayodhya because in this month Deepotsav, Deepawali, Parikrama fair are held, Kartik month fair ends with bath in holy river Saryu on the full moon day of Kartik.
Ramayana Mela
In the month of Kartik, people from Country and Abroad come to Ayodhya for Kalpavas. Festival of Lights
In Ayodhya, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath started Deepotsav in 2017 which has now taken the form of a very big fair. People from all over the country and abroad gather in Ayodhya to witness this festival (Deepotsav), this crowd is worth seeing, it seems that God has descended from heaven, this festival takes place a day before Deepawali. In 2017, a Guinness World Record was created by lighting about 1,80,000 lamps, similarly in 2018, by lighting 3,01,152 then 5,50,000, in 2019 again in 2020, by lighting 6,06,000 diyas and now history was created by lighting 1200000 diyas in 2021.
It is believed that when Sri Rama, the king of Ayodhya, returned to Ayodhya after his fourteen years of exile, the people of Ayodhya were happy with the return of their beloved king. To express this happiness, the people of Ayodhya lit ghee lamps. Which is celebrated today as the festival of Deepawali.
